Job Description Summary:

Job Overview:

The Contracts Manager will be primarily focused on drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of vendor and supplier agreements in support of the Rocket’s procurement function. This position requires an individual to autonomously operate within established frameworks and approaches with minimal guidance, while managing multiple, complex approval and contract negotiation cycles. This individual will have highest standards and a bias for action to achieve high efficiency while exercising high judgment and autonomous decision making in often ambiguous situations.

• Detail-oriented with the ability to analyze complex contractual documents and legal language.

• Proven ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously and meet deadlines.

• Experience working cross-functionally with all stakeholders including business units (R&D, IT, marketing, sales), and collaborating with information security and finance teams.

• Proficiency and significant experience in contract management software (i.e. DocuSign) and MS Office applications.

• Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.

• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, evolving software industry landscape.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Duties include supporting all facets of legal’s role in the company’s procurement function. This role will work closely with Senior Counsel and Counsel of Corporate Legal Team in managing vendor contract review process. You will interact with various other departments including Rocket’s finance, tax, treasury and information security teams as well as work with outside counsel on a variety of matters.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manage the entire contract negotiation process of procurement related agreements (both new and renewals), from initial request and review through negotiation and execution, ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and legal requirements during the contract negotiation.

  • Review, redline, analyze, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including consulting, service and software licensing agreement as well as event sponsorship and hotel agreements.

  • Risk Assessment: Identify and assess potential risks associated with contractual terms, ensuring that contract terms are fair, reasonable, and aligned with the company's risk appetite and escalating to Senior Counsel and Associate General Counsel when necessary.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of Rocket’s business, products, markets, customers and partners in order to identify trends and formulate effective compliance strategies.

  • Interprets contracts and coordinates with legal staff for guidance.

  • Ensures that accurate database and documents are maintained.

  • Deals knowledgeably with customer assignments, transfers, and outsourcing.

  • Provide day to day responses to requests for legal support for the company as needed.

  • Diplomatic, approachable and possessing good business and personal judgment.

  • Must manage conflicting demands from multiple business clients in a fast-paced environment.

  • Inherent ability to act with the highest integrity and professionalism.

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Effective management skills with ability to manage the company’s sales contract operations.

  • 5-7 years' experience of reviewing and negotiating vendor and supplier agreements.

  • BA/BS in related field.

  • Strong understanding of software licensing and service agreements.

  • Exceptional organizational, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to analyze complex contractual documents and legal language.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Ambitious, commercially astute and self-motivated.

  • Successful candidate is a flexible self-starter and proactive problem solver who can work autonomously and handle significant client contact.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills are essential. Ability to clearly present information, in writing and orally, respond to questions from executives, managers, customers, and other employees, with focus on client service.

  • Must manage conflicting demands from multiple business clients in a fast-paced environment.

  • Inherent ability to act with the highest integrity and professionalism.

  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines.

  • Notary Public a plus if in the U.S.

The base salary range for this role is $74,671.00 - $93,338.75 /year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
